Last call for City vendors to apply for Smart Supplier Programme

The City of Cape Town is currently implementing various supplier development programmes for registered vendors to help them better compete for City opportunities, improve contract service delivery, and to access new and larger contract opportunities in the public and private sector. Applications for the Smart Supplier Programme are currently open and will close on Wednesday, 3 February 2021.
The City of Cape Town is offering its registered vendors an opportunity to alleviate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their business and develop and enable them to compete against big business.
The 2021 Smart Supplier Programme aims to grow and support businesses by enabling them to engage effectively with a corporate supply chain. This step-by-step development process takes suppliers through their engagement strategies and ultimately results in an improvement of supplier performance.
Smart Procurement World and the City of Cape Town aim to support a number of chosen businesses through training and by giving them entrance to the market. Smart Procurement World is South Africa’s largest linkage platform for small business and the procurement and supply chain industry.
The City is proud to give suppliers an opportunity to showcase themselves to a vast buyer audience.
The main programme deliverables are as follows:
There will be a selection of the top 70 qualifying first-round competition entrants who will be invited to attend a three-week training boot camp culminating in assessments. These Virtual Masterclasses over three weeks are made up of the modules in response to the new business normal;
All applicants will be invited to a virtual Smart Supplier one day conference in March; and
In April, depending on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic, a selection of regional corporate buyers will also be invited to attend an event at The Business Hub to network with the top 30 finalists where they will be offered an opportunity to pitch to the buyers. Alternatively, this supplier match-up event will be held online.
